June 14′th, 2009 - 3'rd Annual

This recreational cycling fundraiser event is open to all and we welcome anyone to join the group as the more riders, fans, friends, and support volunteers - the more camaraderie & fun. Join our team we want you to participate along side us as we pedal along the Ohio river.
This information is for riders, volunteers, friends, fans, and family involved with the team:
Wheel Freedom – Breast Cancer Riders
2009 marks the third year for the popular and rapidly growing event. There are many distances from the kids sized ‘cross the bridge’ to the longest at 62 miles. Distance are specifically 8.2, 18.4, 26, 45.2, & 62.8 miles and is flat except for the longest distance riders. The ride is run as a well supported simple out and back ride and so requires no maps or complicated turns. Once you are outside of Dayton Kentucky it is all KY Rt 8 riding along the scenic Ohio River corridor of small towns and riverside vistas.

Our group will be a very fun and inspiring group of cyclists that may grow substantially in numbers. To prepare for the needs of many cyclists, the team can use a supplemental created team page on Facebook as a resource for posting information, pictures, and showing support for and poking fun at team members. …so
As a team we will be receiving a free team photo from the event and other team incentives for fundraising. I’ve already been told of two incentives one being a $100 gift certificate to Fleet Feet and another being a 1-yr membership to LA Fitness. Now the next step is to decide what those gifts will be given for. One obvious one will be for the top fundraiser. The other will likely be a general and randomly picked rider from whoever is signed up by a set point in time (to encourage timely registration). Other details will become better known as the event approaches.
As a fundraising event for breast cancer research, the group will have only voluntary participation goals and do what it can to support the worthy cause. Again, to be clear, Fundraising is entirely voluntary for this ride and not mandatory. Statistically one in eight women is detected with Breast Cancer during their lifetime; so there is a very tangible need for the funding of this research. So feel free though to raise some serious money for this worthy cause that spends the money right in Cincinnati at the Barrett Cancer Center.
